Ready-Mix Ordering Checklist: What to Confirm Before Delivery

A useful ready-mix order gives the supplier a quantity, a project specification and a workable delivery plan. Calculate the volume first, then confirm the order directly with dispatch before scheduling the pour.

Have the quantity and specification ready

Save the measured volume, chosen allowance and rounded order separately. Supply any project specifications and tell the producer how the concrete will be placed. NRMCA recommends ordering against project requirements rather than assuming one mixture suits every job.

Keep the mix designation from the confirmed quote with your order notes. Our quantity calculators do not select strength, air content, structural thickness or reinforcement. Those choices need to come from the relevant plan and project professionals.

Turn your measurements into dispatch notes

A useful note might read: “Rectangular slab, measured net volume 4.94 yd³; selected allowance 10%; requested order 5.50 yd³ after quarter-yard rounding.” That tells the supplier where the number came from. It also lets someone catch a changed form size before the truck leaves.

  • Record the job address, reliable contact and agreed arrival arrangement.
  • Explain the route from the street to the unloading position, including access restrictions.
  • Confirm how the mix will reach the forms and who supplies any pump or conveying equipment.
  • Ask how deliveries will be spaced if more than one load is needed.
  • Record where equipment can clean up under the site's agreed arrangements.

Confirm money and readiness before release

Ask for a written price with delivery, small-load rules, waiting time, taxes and applicable cancellation terms. An order marked will-call may need a further release step; ask dispatch exactly what makes your delivery firm. Ozinga's ordering page illustrates why these details belong in a supplier conversation.

Before release, check that forms, access, people, equipment and curing provisions are ready. Save the supplier's phone number where the person supervising delivery can find it. Review the delivery ticket against the confirmed order when the load arrives.

Use the quote comparison tool and delivery-fee guide to organize the buying details before calling.
