Strip Footing Concrete Calculator

Calculate the volume of a rectangular strip footing from the total run length and specified cross-section.

Your project

Project sketchFrom your inputs
40 ftSection: 18 in × 12 in
Schematic, not to scale. Drawn pieces do not represent the purchase count.
Decimal feet or feet and inches, e.g. 10' 6".
Editable planning allowance; actual waste varies.
Example: QUIKRETE #1101, 80 lb. Check your product label.

How the calculation works

Volume = total run length × width × depth. Convert both cross-section dimensions to feet.

A worked example

A 40 ft run with an 18 × 12 in section measures 60 ft³, or 2.2222 yd³, before allowance.

What to check before using the result

  • Use net lengths so overlapping intersections are not counted twice.
  • This calculator does not design the footing or assess bearing capacity.
